Self Consciousness

In the Name of Allaah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

When we are so confident of our Imaan and belief, this is when we are most vulnerable and Satan hits us the hardest. Unfortunately, no one ever sees this coming until it is too late.

Allah tells us how the companions once left the Prophet salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam standing on the pulpit to pursue a caravan that came to Madinah loaded with goods.  Only 12 remained  in the masjid with our Prophet on that Friday!

Allah says: But when they saw a transaction or a diversion, [O Muhammad], they rushed to it and left you standing. Say, "What is with Allah is better than diversion and than a transaction, and Allah is the best of providers."

If this was done by the great companions while the Prophet salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam was preaching them on Friday prayers, what will happen to us in this world with all these diversions around us, with no Prophet among to guide us?

Our biggest problem is when we think that we are doing well and we are the best of Muslims! We are so confident of ourselves that we truely believe that we can never go astray. The truth is that we are worse than some of the hypocrites at the time of our Prophet!

There are Muslims among us who are hanging to their Islam by a philosophy! They claim that they are striking the balance between Islam and life. A lot of them had left the fold of Islam long ago but they don’t know it or at least don’t want to know it.

We must doubt ourselves on daily basis and make the necessary check and balance. We must urge Allah and beg Him to make us steadfast on Quran and sunnah before we end up full fledged hypocrites.

O Turner of hearts, make our hearts steadfast on Quran and sunnah and grant us the companionship of our Prophet salla Allah alaihi wa sallam in paradise.

May Allaah grant us understanding. Aameen.
