In the name of Allaah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.
On this day, Islam was perfected.
Surah (Al-Ma'idah 5:3) Allaah Says: "This day I have perfected your religion for you, completed my favor upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion". This Ayah was revealed to the prophet (pbuh) when he was standing on Arafah on Friday.
This is the day the Ummah celebrate Eid.
The prophet (pbuh) said "Yawm Arafah ( The Day of Arafah), Yawm Nahr (The Day of Sacrifice), Yawm Tashriq (Three days after Yawm Nahr) are Eid (festival) for Muslims".
On this day, Allaah swore an oath.
Surah (Al-Burooj 85:3) "By One that witnesses (Friday) and the Subject of the witness (Arafah)".
Abu Hurayrah reported that the prophet (pbuh) said: " The promissed day is the Day of Resurrection, the witnessed day is the Day of Arafah and the witnessing Day is Friday". (Narrated by Al-Tirmidhi and classed as Saheeh by Al-Albaani).
On this day, fasting is an expiation for two years.
Abu Qutadah reported that the prophet (pbuh) was asked about fasting on the day of Arafah. He (pbuh) said "It expiates for the sins of the privious year and the coming year". (Narrated by Muslim)
Fasting On this day is a Mustahab for those who are not on Hajj, and it's not a Sunnah for those who are performing Hajj. It was reported that the prophet did not fast on Arafah.
On this day, Sins are forgiven, and exemption from the fire of Hell and Pride.
A'ishah (RA) narrated that the prophet (pbuh) Said: "There is no day in which Allaah frees more people from the fire of Hell than the Day of Arafah". He comes close and expresses His pride to the Angels saying, "What do these people want?"
May Allaah Grant Us the bounties of this Day.
