Whispering From Shaytaan (Waswas)
In the name of Allaah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.
Waswas: This is the evil whispers (Whispering from Shaytaan) and
having evil thoughts.
The ultimate goal of Shaytaan is to distract the servant of Allaah from either his intended good deeds/acts or from worship (Salat).
A Sahaba repine to the prophet(pbuh) about Waswas during Salat. He (Sahaba) said "The Shaytaan comes between me and my prayers and my recitation, confusing me therein"
The messenger of Allaah (pbuh) said "That is a devil called Khanzab. If he affects you, seek refuge in Allaah from him and spit drily to your left three times"
The Sahaba said "I did that and Allaah took him away from me"(Narated by Muslim 2203).
Having Waswas is a terrible thing, but this shows a sign of faith in a believer, for if you dare not utter it or afraid of talking about it to anyone.
Waswas is a clear temptation for those who Shaytaan can not tempt due to their high level of Imaan. But as for Unbelievers, Shaytaan is free to manipulate them in any form he wishes.
A Hadith Narrated from the Mother of Believers Aisha(RA), The prophet (SAW) said: "The Shaytaan comes to one of you and says "Who Created You?" And he answers "Allaah" Then Shaytaan says "Who crested Allaah?" If this should happen to any believer he should say; "Amantu Billahi Wa Rusulihi" (I believe in Allaah and his messengers) Then that will go away from him" (Narrated by Ahmad, 25671; Classified as Hasan(sound) by Al- Alani in al-Saheehah 116)
We should engage ourselves in the remembrance of Allaah all the time to shave away devilish thoughts.
And Allaah knows best.
